So, as a doctor I need to ask this: would you be okay as a field medic? Like physically, if you’d be expending your[…] energy to heal others?

it's not so much a straight swap as a trade. like say you break your nose n i get you back to normal from my own ✨life force✨. then my body needs all the same energy n rest to get me back like it would've if i'd broke MY nose cept my nose never got touched.

so yeah i'm fine with it tbh. it's easier to get a fatigued guy back home than one whose leg got snapped by some huge new liminal creature.

reckon i'd pass out ~~before it lets me kick t~~. i'm not proposin that i go around healing everybody up to fuck myself over. when i go in with a lil bit of the good stuff i learn what's up so i can triage, hopefully make em stable enough til we can get proper help, and fix up whatever i can the old fashioned way. like look at what i did with ru, there's no fuckin way i'dve let him stomp all over the riftlands with 40 civs in tow and a flail chest when there's something i can do to help.

I'm not really sure how things work in your Division, but if you need Medical clearance to show you're fit for field medic duties on top of your existing Explorer duties, I can help with that.

thanks. i already do all that tbh cause things ain't run as ~~well~~ rigid as [...] what i'm used to. it's kind of a BYO-skills deal where we handle what we can how we want when we're out there. then once we're back i'm not supposed to do shit cause i'm not with med n that's kind of where i get stuck??? like we as a whole station keep getting our asses handed to us and after i'm through decon instead of "oh shit yeah i can help y'all patch folks up" it's "ok time to put away my gear and watch everybody have a real bad time while i idk. watch you've got mail." don't feel good about it.

I'm not saying this would be a risk related to you specifically, just if something goes wrong when someone is being treated, IRIS covers its ass by ensuring all the proper boxes were ticked and everyone with blood on their hands has their fancy papers hung up on the wall. I mean, you worked for a fire department, you know how it is. And again, not saying I'm all aboard with that.

it's never been a safe place n they don't let kids live on station for good reason. but we used to get more time to explore the riftlands for exploration's sake than cause somebody was lost out there or felt threatened or whatever. these days that balance feels off, but it could just be i got too used to not havin to deal with anything when we got 3 months away.

I think Annie feels the same as you, about something feeling off.
